  • My School = Lame

    /start rant

It's finally time to pick classes for next year. Here's my lineup that I want in no particular order:

Christian Action II - im in CA1 at the moment, its fun and there's not that much bookwork which is a good thing! - I go to a school during that period to help out the kindergartners with some other kids.
English 12 - I'm not an English fan so I'm opting not to take AP (Advanced Placement)
AP Calculus - MORE ON THIS AFTER.........
Modern Europe History - they MAKE us take this....everyone wants to take Psychology instead but noooo...
Physics Honors II - pilots gotta take physics right?
    Phys Ed - have to
AP Psychology - want an AP class....just because I'm good like that and psychology is cool

    AP Calculus Story....

So 8th grade, Algebra I Honors (a high school course in junior high), I get an A for the final. 9th grade, Geometry Honors, I get A's no problem. 10th grade, my teacher is a complete ASSHOLE. My final average was B even after getting a D on the final exam. I was friggin PISSED. So I couldn't get into Pre-Calculus Honors like I wanted to for this year because I didnt have a B+ or higher. 11th grade, this year, my teacher is RETARDED. Its like going from bad to horrible! THIS YEAR IS AN EXACT REVIEW OF LAST YEAR. I've learned about 3 things TOTAL this year. Oh and my grades? FIRST QUARTER: A+ SECOND QUARTER: A+ THIRD QUARTER (which just ended Friday): A+ WITH 99.19 AVERAGE! The ONLY A+ in the class too! Now those bastards have the NERVE to tell me that I cannot get into the AP Calculus class. Oh I'm pissed all right. I'm going to my guidence councelor tomorrow morning and telling her what the friggin deal is. My mom's paying $8,000 per YEAR to go to this school and they're NOT going to tell me I'm not getting into that class.

This is ridiculous. Plus there's the fact that our math department SUCKS too and my 10th grade asshole teacher was caught the year before changing kids' grades! Yet he still works here.........

    /end rant

    Thanks!

This quote IMO kills your rant. The school can tell you whatever it wants; it can kick you out, tell you what classes you can or can't take, even tell you what you can and can't wear. You don't get out of it just because your pay money for it. Case and point- My school (also a tuition school) forced a kid to leave earlier this year because he wasn't following the rules. This comes only weeks after his parents made a sizeable donation to the school. Bottom line is- money can't get you out of problems.

That being said, your school is being (once again IMO) unfair to you. Argue, fight back as hard as you can. Just don't use the "we pay tuition so this isn't fair" argument because you are going to find that such an attitude will win you very few supporters.

      Good luck!
Fly Raleigh-Durham International, with direct flights on Air Canada, AirTran, American Airlines, American Eagle, America West, Continental Airlines, Continental Express, Delta Airlines, Delta Connection, jetBlue, Northwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Express and US Airways to:

ATL, AUS, BWI, BOS, CHS, CLT, MDW, ORD, CVG, CLE, DFW, DTW, FLL, BDL, HOU, IND, LAS, LAX, LGW, MEM, MIA, MSP, BNA, EWR, MSY, JFK, LGA, ORF, MCO, PHL, PHX, PIT, STL, SLC, TPA, YYZ, DCA and IAD.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't going to totally lean on the tuition thing either. I'm going to see my guidance councelor tomorrow and I'll bug both of those teachers about it again as well. Im getting in that class...im determined....

Tell your teacher to buck up his ideas or you'll make his life a misery, egging his house being the tip of the ice-berg.

It won't be long before he pulls his head out of his arse.

Man, public school seems to a lot better than private school from the look of things... we haven't paid tuition to school (save taxes) since 1992 and I'm in 5 APs this year- and I have above an 85 in every one.

Our school has something called a parental waiver- if you really want to take that class, but didn't make the grade to get it, your parents can waive you in with the knowledge that the school doesn't think you're ready for it. It's a last resort, but many smart slackers use it anyway. See if you school has something like that. If not, I guess a lively discussion with your counselor is the best thing to do!

I'm in my free/lunch period now. I talked to the councelor this morning. She said she was going to have a talk with the AP Calculus teacher today and to come back at the end of the day. She even wrote a note as a reminder to herself. I also went to the other councelor, who teachers AP Psychology, and I got in there no problem!

5 AP classes....man that's nuts lol. I'm bad in English and my homework environment at home isn't what I want it to be . I got an 83 this quarter in my regular history class....I have no clue how the heck that happened. It seems really low. I've got to go see him this afternoon as well to see if there was a mistake.

Amen. I didn't realize how pretty much everything about high school sucks from the students to the teachers until this year. Maybe because things seemed to improve last year. My school system's a joke. June can't come soon enough.
