        its a mode in the transmission, mine has Drive (D) Tiptronic (just slide the knob to the right, and you can change the gears without manually, without clutch), and then there is Sport (S) mode, which is used when you want to do more agressive driving, it just revs the engine more taking the RPM up for 6-7.....

                        Left as I drive a standard Jetta. Actually with my knees a lot as it is 141 km to work. And for which way my appendage hangs.....you really want to know?

                              When I drive my car (automatic) I usually drive with my right hand.
                              In my mom's car (manual) I drive with my left hand, and shift with the right hand.
