  • got into an accident...(just what i need ..not)

Well, this morning on my way to school, i got into an accident, this was at a four way stop sign, i got there first, then there was this car to the right of me, who made a left turn, and then i went. But to my surprise, there was a guy to the left of me who starting going straight and ramped right into me, taking off the whole front bumper, luckly i took the Accord to school today and not the Jetta (i would have been overly pissed if that car got hit) But all in all it's going to be $114 to get all the parts, and i'm going to fix it myself, i think its rather simple to get the bumper on, but i'm going to need a whole new bumper, parking light assembly, front reinforcement, Front bumper abosrber, Corner lights, and Turn signal lights leading to the $114 in parts.....you guys think that i should claim the accident, or not? i think its going to make my insurance go up anyways, (and clearly the cops didn't fine anyone since its a law that if an accident happens when both people have stop signs, no one can be blamed..) or if any of you have any experience in body work, please call me up, i'm gonna need assistance haha

for now i didn't some minor work so that the bumper stays on and doesn't make the car look like shit....

Ill post some pics up later...

Eh, looking at it from another perspective, $114 to fix it is relatively cheap

yeah whoever told you that only $115 bucks is full of shite! One damaged bumper on my Jeep is $650 bucks. Lets see you have a damaged bumper, broken light, damaged hood. Your looking at at least $1000 in parts. But I bet the Honda is paid off so, no i would not claim it.

moral of the story...never assume that everybody else is going to do what you expect them to do.

Yeah, was thinking the same. There is no such thing as a $115 bumber (well maybe on an escort or a really small ass car ) It looks like your lights got fucked up, tons of scratches, etc... You seem to be looking at atleast $1000 unless you do most of the work yourself, then maybe that would be lowered too $600-800. The bumber for an accord probably is around $400, plus paint which would be another $100 ($200 if someone does it for you) and your lights (not sure if they still work or not) might need replacing which could rack up another $200ish.

IDK if you want to report this. Depends on how old you are (school as in High School or as in College) anyway, if you are under 25, I would say no. Probably cheaper just to pay for the crap yourself. Probably cause your insurance to go up a good $100 every 6 months. I would only file the claim if you plan on keeping the car a lot longer. It is not worth reporting if you are gona only have the car for one or two more years.

I say if you can afford to live it that neighbourhood u can afford to pay for it to be fixed
Why didn't you get the guys details and make his insurance pay or were you in the wrong ? or does that not how it works over there ?

I T-boned a mini a while ago at some lights , I had no insurance but luckily she was nice enough to admit she was wrong and her insurance paid out in full for my car to be fixed

                MY Car........

                And the Mini.......

I am very surprised at this. If you are 100% sure it was not your fault claim it and make the person who hit you pay for all the damages. my friend got hit at a stop sign because the girl didnt see him and kept on going even though he had the right of way and she was deemed at fault and she had to pay for all damages.

I don't recall this being a law where people pay for their own damages. If the person hit you, and you were there first he or she must pay for damages.

That is true but when you are at a 4-way stop sign intersection it brings up trouble. Often times, 2 (or more) people arrive at the same time and confusion errupts. Sometimes no one is ever there first and that is when you have to be careful.

This was also a 4 way stop my friend got hit at. The rule is you always refer to your right side of the car.

When you have all 3 or 4 cars arrive at once you look to the right, and allow the right car to go. He/she must allow his right to go first too, unless one is waved on ward. If a car leaves a stop sign and smashes into the car on his or her right the person that hit the car is at fault because again you refer back to the right side of the car.

When my friend got hit, there were 3 cars at the 4 way stop sign. He arrived at first and was farthest to the right because he had no car on his right side so he had the right of way. 2 other cars arrived right after he did. He proceeded to go on, and the two other cars should have wait. The girl who was on his left side, had also stopped but contuined on and smashed into his left side. She was deemed at fault for not allowing him the right of way and had to pay for all damages.

This is why I refuse to go near 4 way stop signs

hahahah, well i have no idea what to do, i gave the guy a call (the guy who hit me) and he said he'll call me back tommorow so he can take a look at the car since he works at a body shop, he said he wouldn't charge labor, so ill have to buy parts...so i think thats pretty good. As for the price, i checked online, a black front bumper, costs around $50 for a accord LX, also i don't know about the body damage, the car runs fine, didn't hear/see anything wrong on the inside, execpt for the Reinforcer bar being shifted to the right a bit, also the lights on the bottom got completly disconnected and aren't working (thus causing the other signal lights to flicker rapidly) i'm going to do most of the stuff myself, since its pretty easy..as for the paint, ill have someone else do that..

Man if it was me I wouldn't do that. I would go to another body shop ask for a quote, and then go to him and ask for his quote and compare the differences. I still dont think he should be charging you a dime if he refuses to pay for the car of any point make his insurance do so. It was his fault, plain and simple.

I do realize 4 way stop signs are a bit different but still it shouldnt be that way.
