When an emu in Carbondale failed to surrender to police

Reporter: "Was it the right thing to shoot the emu?"
Cop: "Well, we told the Emu to lay down and put its hands over its head. It didn't respond, instead it looked at us blankly and mocked us with a loud shreik. At this point we had to kill it. Afterwards, it was noted that the emu, in fact, didn't have hands."

I opened my local daily newspaper and first thing I read was..

Police gun down errant emu

Hmmh Emu didn't tell me he was coming to town..

So curious I kept on reading...it seemed Emu got a bit agitated and left and ran amock Carbondale (where I live) and apparantly threatened people and people had to come by and shoot the bird.

CARBONDALE - When an emu in Carbondale failed to surrender to police Wednesday, officers were given no choice but to put the large bird down.
