I quote FAR 91.3 (B) In an in-flight emergency requiring immediate action, the pilot in command may deviate from any rule of this part to the extent required to meet that emergency.

So the rule is, you can deviate from any rule in the event of an emergency in order to save yourself and aircraft. And an engine failure in a single engine aircraft definately qualifies as an emergency.

Or think about being on the opposite side of the interstate! I would have wrecked trying to

    1)get my camera

    2)drive

    3) take the shots

    4) i'd keep watching as i passed by

Pretty neat though that he managed to get the aircraft down, and pulled over without a single scratch. What if there was Crash fenders all the away. Imagine driving infront of this Bonanza for a couple of miles. Not everyday you see that. lol

One hell of a pilot is my guess! I'm thinking he landed on the interstate then pulled off...

But still, as shown in the pictures, it was fairly heavy traffic...how he didn't hit a car is beyond me.

hahaha wow, great timing though, how'd it manage to land on the grass (or the highway) without having even a little bit of damage haha.

Oh yeah! At first I thought it was just a bunch of white plastic, but as we got closer I saw the V and scrambled for my camera!

I think about how awesome that would have been if I would have been fooling with the camera and over our heads that thing came......that would be a pretttty unique photo I think...

It didn't happen much before we drove by, because the fire trucks were just getting there as we pulled up.

Talk about picture perfect...there's not a scrape or a ding on the thing! Heck I'd fly it after they fix it back up
