Cliffs notes: A semi driver working for Haliburton in Iraq was following a military escort. They took a wrong turn town a one way street and had to turn around. They were attacked and the military escort high tails it out of there. Two truck drivers get killed ahead of this guy (who was video taping the whole thing). Right as they get to his truck choppers show up, but not until they had already shot him twice.

He gets evacuated, sent home...but here's the good part. He was fired for being injured on the job. You voulenteer to go somewhere dangerous, see two of your co workers get dragged from their truck, killed, stripped, beaten, and then you get shot...and all you get out of that is that you get canned?

I was so pissed when I saw this on nightline last night. All this because of a war that was started for a reason that really didn't exist. Stuff like this happens every day there, and our "leadership" thinks we're dumb enough to believe them when they say "no...Iraq is jusitifed, we're safer because of it, besides things aren't that messed up there anyway". Un-freakin-believable.

I agree but I hate when people act shocked that they were shot at. It's Iraq, it's a war, and in my opinion, they don't have any business being there. They should have known that this could have happened.

I dont think he's shocked that he was shot at. I think he was shocked that his armed escort ran like little girls when stuff started to go down. And that Haliburton said they shouldn't talk to anyone about this.

Absolute sad and pissed off to read about, agree with you Emu.

The whole idea of being volunteer over there at the other side of the world makes no sense if your escort runs away like little girls. ** Heyyyyy, where you going..**

Thank g-d atleast he's at home now.

Hang on a minute, throwing insults at the military is a bit of a concern.
Not much better than the “creative editing” given to us by all forms of news media.
In all theatres of conflict there are Rules of Engagement.I would expect these ROE's would include not returning uncontrolled small arms fire into a village.
As with all enemy contacts decisions based on the ROE's have to be made….enemy strength, type of weapons, direction and amount of fire, safety of civilians etc
The military does not run away, but is not necessarily going to risk lives without a plan of counter attack.
I believe the humvee behind the truck remained.Choppers were called in………for obvious reasons the most sensible plan in this situation ……….
Reports are also suggesting the rescue mission was complete far sooner than stated.

Yes, I find it not only shocking, but alarming and disgusting.
