  • Tour of a Mazda MX-3 Precidia

Oh yess boiss... and car fans! Everyone loves the Mazda MX-3 Precidia, fortunatly for you, my uncle owns one. So I drive it ALL the time. So heres a tour and some intresting factual information.

    1993 white Mazda MX-3 Precidia.

Here is the dashboard gauges. This is actually a pretty nice car to drive.

I love the defusers for the air system. This car doesnt have A/C or any fancy features. But it still does the trick, even with a stock stereo. To avoid questions, the "HOLD" button on the gear selector is for this.

Mazda in the early 90's to mid 90's offered a Hold button for the automatic transmission. What it would do is hold the gear for you when you press the button, so if you press it in 2 or 3 it would hold the gear and basically whine it out. But if you came to a complete stop and had hold on and went to go, the car would act like crap because its holding in the gear 2 or 3! So its a stupid useless feature.

Fuel and Temp gauges, along with time.

Speedometer, and belive it or not, 94000km! for a 13 year old car too. My uncle has gotten it up to 180km/h but didnt want to go any faster, cause its dangerous.

Tachometer, the transmission had to be rebuilt a while ago. But it will never be the same. Especially the same around 6000RPM and when it upshifts around 3200RPM.

    Engine.

This is the SOHC 16-valve 1.6L Inline 4 with multi-port electronic fuel injection. MPFI (Multi-port fuel injection) was state-of-the-art in 1993. It has a grossly overpowered 1.8L V-6 as an option. 16 Valves was also ahead of its time to for 1993.

All in all, no airbags, and no special features, this car is wicked to drive.

Driving a car with NO AIRBAGS? Well, enjoy your life then, with such a car it could end sooner than you would imagine.

Yeah - we recently shopped for a second car, and that was one of the things we looked for before making a choice. Front and side curtain airbags (I think)

                Jeeze, calm down!

Its not like I said this car is the safest on the road. Its obvious its not the safest with no airbags, ill tell you right now it doesnt have crumple zones! If you dont drive cars with no airbags and crumple zones based on safety, your missing out on a lot of awesome cars. I will tell you that right now. When it comes down to it, its the driver, not the car in terms of safety.

Even more reason not to drive it.

As if there aren't enough other awesome cars that actually do have those features.

Your driving skills certainly won't help you when there's suddenly a deer or another large animal on the road and you have no chance to avoid collision.

In need of some sarcasm lessons?

Car with no airbags, i don't think that there is a significant difference between a car with airbags and without with a slight percentage on being on the safe side for the car with airbags.. Are airbags really going to do much when you hit somthing at 60-90mph? They are definatly there for a reason, but hitting somthing at those speeds would rip apart the car.

Car with or without airbags will be practically destroyed if it runs into a moose. So dont pull this "oh well airbags will save you in a deer-car collision", because drving skills do help.

                          I like BMW's a lot. I was in agreement.

Who cares if you have airbags or not. It's your life on the line, and I'm not too worried. I'm sure Kevin is a good driver.

                          Kevin, wear your seatbelt though.

And, DAL767...no need to get all worked up. Some people can't afford new cars with airbags.

Drivers in NS don't seem to merge properly.. they go to the end of the merge lane and pull out into traffic without so much a look behind them! Not safe to have this happen on the highway, its an accident waiting to happen

Well, whatever. I was merely giving my opinion on this. If it is seen as becoming worked up, well, so be it. I'll withdraw myself from this topic.
