  • Casino Royale

The premiere is tonight in London (14-11-06) and after that I believe there will be a number of mini-premiere's around the country on 16-11-06, then normal screenings from 17-11-06. I hope to see it on 18-11-06 or 25-11-06.

Obviously, this is no ordinary Bond film, for a number of reasons. Firstly because we've got a new blonde Bond, secondly because there is no Q, although I believe there is a reference to Q-Branch. Thirdly, none of the stunts were faked or edited in any way. There are more but I'm not going to go into detail now.

There have been a number of excellent write-ups about the film recently, with a lot of people saying he's the best Bond since Connery, which judging from the trailer, you get the impression it's true. I cannot wait to see this film, I believe it's going to be my personal favourite.

    Comments welcome.

I'm looking forward to seeing it & have been looking forward to it since '02. It looks like it could be good. I just don't know why they didn't make Casino Royale the first Bond movie, as it was the first Bond novel & gave an intro as to who he was & why he stayed a double O (I read the book for my Sr. paper in English in high school)

Keyword "could". I'm worried it could turn out like the last pile of crap they called a James Bond movie, namely Die Another Day. James Bond being captured & held for 14 months 5 minutes into the movie was bad enough & then the rest of the movie wasn't much better. Only 007 movie I haven't seen more than once.

From whats been written above, it sounds promising. All the CGI in the last couple films really brought them down a notch. Hopefully every bit-character in the film won't have some witty remark as well. That got old pretty fast in Die Another Day.

Connery was by far the best Bond.

I found out the other day that Sean Connery did two stints as Bond, he did a few, Lasenby took over, then he came back and did a few more.

Didnt Connery do a few bond films in the 80's?

He only did one and it wasnt an official movie. I forget the name of it.

But it was Timothy Dalton that did The Living Daylights and License to Kill.

Connery did "Never Say Never Again" in 83. It was made by Warner Brothers (as opposed to UA/MGM) as kind of an unofficial Bond movie. It was essentially a remake of Thunderball.

Also, there wasn't really a Q in Dr. No, just a representative from Q-Branch that gave Bond his gun.

I have hope that Casino Royale will turn out right. I hope it goes back to basics and isn't some big explosive movie that the last few turned out to be. I think that Brosnan was one of the better Bonds, he just had some unfortunate movies in his run.

The most underrated Bond film ever. It's my favorite Bond film. Lazenby's line at the end of the opening scene always cracks me up: "This never happened to the other fellow."

                    And Telly Savalas as Blofeld.

The movie was pretty good, there's something about Lazenby that doesn't quite strike me though. It's decent anyway.

Blofeld was one of my favourite 'bad guys'. I'm hoping with them starting at the beginning, they will do another movie (or movies) with him and SPECTER in it. Unless they never got the rights back to use the character.

I don't think they ever got the rights back to Spectre/Blofeld. I think the guy that made Never Say Never Again still owns them.

You and me are in the same boat then! Don't worry, it won't be long before it's available on dodgy DVD.
