The plane loaded with heroin and stolen from a Russian airbase? That was in The Living Daylights ..

That's a bit of a shame, there's so much they could do with it now. Oh well..

I'm not a huge bond-fan (probably because I'm a chick ), despite having watched all the movies- but I'll watch this one too

Let's just say it's because we've got Danish Mads Mikkelsen playing "Le Chiffre"

... dodgy excuse But I swear I'm not a bond fan

... and I'm not dead either

Would someone mind telling me why women find James Bond so hot not matter what actor is playing him?

Lol usually they get someone who has good looks. George Lazenby was even a model.

So who do you think would have played Bond during the gap between 1989 and 1995 if they'd been making 007 films during that period?

I'm going to see Casino Royale late at night on Wednesday 22nd November.

Also, for info, Bond 22 is more like a Casino Royale sequel rather than another Bond film, if you know what I mean. Bond needs to find out who 'Mr White', a character in Casino Royale, was really working for.

I would guess that Timothy Dalton would have continued to make movies. I've heard rumors that he was even consulted about coming back in 1995, but that he thought too much time had passed. Again, like with Brosnan, I don't think Dalton was a bad Bond, just that the movies he was involved with weren't the best. I've also heard that the producers actually wanted Brosnan in the 80s but he had that show (can't recall the name right now) and couldn't do Bond. I don't know how much of that is truth though.

It's a guy's film- that's the only reason why If it was just a tad bit realistic, women would hate him and he'd have caught an STD long ago anyway

Hah a realistic Bond film would probably be him sitting in a van for 3 hours listening to a phone tap and eating donuts or something.

no STDs or woman turning him away then? Awww

Then again, a donut would be sexier than Daniel, aka new bond... how the actresses in this movie can get close to him without barfing is a mystery...

Saw it over the weekend and thought it was poor. The essential elements of a Bond film are 'Q', gadgets and humour - all of which are lacking.

Story is weak and disjointed with the best chase scene far too early. Poker games drags on for ages without any real purpose.

Remove the Bond name from the characters and it would just be another action film and a poor one at that.

DC as Bond - did not work for me - he has neither the on-screen presence of Connery or the suave sofistication of Brosnan.

For people who have not seen other Bond films they will enjoy it but for other who have it might be a disappointment.

Saw it last night, and it was brilliant, Daniel Craig has definitely got what it takes to be Bond and I'm glad that he's successfully silenced the critics and that the immature "Craig Not Bond" website has failed.

That said, onto the film. Action right from the very start, where he kills someone in some bogs, and from this first scene, you know it's definitely more violent than previous 007 movies. Definitely a shorter beginning than most Bond movies, it seemed no time at all before the credits appeared, and when the credits did appear, there were no silhouettes of girls, one of my few critisizms of the film.

I won't go into a detailed review, but they left it a lot more open to sequel than usual, all of the Bond films I remember, the final scene is usually where Bond gets the girl, but not in this one, cos by that point they're all dead. I did miss the traditional ending but in a way I also preferred the ending that did occur.

You don't actually miss Q or Miss Moneypenny in this film, but they are two characters that will need to be brought back in future films. I agree with paulc that there is a lack of humour in the film - but the humour that does exist is a hell of a lot funnier than that of the prior movies.

I can see why people would think the Poker games drag on a bit, but for me they didn't as Bond kept getting up and doing something. I was a little disappointed at how early the main villain, Le Chiffre, gets dead, it was about 75% through the film instead of the usual 85-90%. So there you have it, a damned good Bond film, one which Moore or Lazenby couldn't have played.

By the way, don't read any of the above if you haven't yet seen the film.

                        Regards,
