  • Have you drive on icy road?

This morning, I am driving to school and there is a icy on the road. I almost hit the car when I pressed the brake very hard and I pulled a parking brake to stop as quickly, and it is different than other HW99. There is a different temperate on the HW99 roads. I am pathetic. As in result, there is a heavy jamming in HW99 near to Shoreline, and I will drive more careful on next time.

You need to take it easy and slow down on ice or snow covered roads. If you do not have anti lock brakes bump the brakes to stop rather than jam them on. By pumping the brakes you won't lock up the wheels.

There has been not yet Icy road or snow here. The temp here is 40 or 50 degree for winter. No snow either fallen yet. I hope it does snow not this winter because I do not drive in it want.

Slamming on the brakes on an icy road is not the best thing to do.

Using the parking brake likely locked the rear wheels which will lengthen the stopping distance every time. Use the brake to the point just before they lock and you will get max braking power, unless your car has ABS in which case press as hard as you want and the sensors will do the rest.

Driving on ice is best avoided however if you must, go slowly and anticipate how your vehicle is going to react to steering and brake inputs. Winter tires with softer rubber compounds help too.

Me and some mates spun out completely on ice, we just passed through a large ford, and the driver went to dry out the brakes without realising the road was coated with solidifed water. Whoops!

I haven't actually been told what exactly to do if you start a slide, in terms of power. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to turn the wheel rally car styles.

My car had ABS brake. I made a mistake to pulled up parking brake.
