The future of civilization?

I'm less concerned with the amount of war in the world than I am the emergence of the "mall culture". More people are concerned with what certain celebrities are doing, what other people are wearing, and who is going to win American idle (spelled that way on purpose) than on stuff that actually matters such as truly being humanitarians and helping people out, not entirely destroying our environment, and other equally important things.

The future of civilization?
What do you see happening? The way we're going now, the outlook can be kind of pessimistic, but I choose to remain optimistic. I feel that we will eventually realize the destructiveness of our ways and form stronger bonds between countries. Sociological patterns have shown over the past few hundred years a "humanitarisation" of warfare by many industrialized nations. The justifications for warfare by these countries are on a more humanitarian basis than ever previously. There remain exceptions, but this is becoming more so. I propose that we will "fix" these things and live to civilization's, indeed, humanity's, full potential. What do you think?
haha all this coming from the guy seriously considering competing for an ANG pilot slot after college. lolTags: None
