Might i point out that musical masterpieces such as 'The Mr Blobby Song' and 'The Tweenies' (not to mention the Spice Girls) have graced none other than the number one spot in the British charts at times!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Without having listened to this song, I'm guessing it's the one that goes 'McDonald's, McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and the Pizza Hut', right? If it is, this song is originally Dutch, one of many so-called 'party songs' the Dutch seem to be so 'good' at. Some idiotic Belgian act put a beat under it a year ago, and it made it to number 1 (!) in Belgium. Shame on us
It's got an idiotic dance to it as well: At 'McDonald's' everyone gestures the McDonald's 'M' sign above their heads, at 'KFC' they act like a chicken, and at 'Pizza Hut' they put their hand above their heads to form a little 'roof'. I repeat: Shame on us
IMHO, Blur was last any good back around 1996. The Great Escape was really their last decent album. Blur had some good tracks on it (other than Song 2), 13 was not too good, and the new one sucks.
