Just for your info not all the 'guests' are real people. There can be a fair number of search engine 'bots' at anyone time. Saying that there don't seem to be any 'bots' in the house this morning

Oh yeah, the infamous "GoogleBots", heard many a negative story about those. Oh well, can't avoid them, unfortunately.

Oh yeah, and I'm glad this thread hasn't "choked after 10 replies" .

Yeh...sorry mate...probably jumped the gun a bit. But it is a topic that needs discussion, and I was just throwing around ideas for that discussion. Like I said the forum serves a purpose for those involved but the current members are the ones that are responsible for enticing new members. However there is no denying that in the 2 years I have been here participation has declined.

              No doubt.

We really should try and get more people we know to sign up. Truth is, I don't know too many people outside this site who are really into aviation or spotting or that sort of thing. And the ones I do know, I'm doing you all a favor by not telling them about this site.

I still say a member poll where we award members (ex. most wellspoken, smartest, funniest, craziest, ect) would bring forth a lot of member participation.

I work for AC and many of my co-workers look at JP. They enjoy the pictures and some read the threads, however since we receive daily emails on what is going on in the airline business they don't look to JP for info.

I have an idea that I thought of while I was mowing the lawn today. One of these nights (maybe later on tonight, we'll see) I'll go ahead and get a chat going via AIM. If we can get a whole bunch of people chatting at once we'll all get to know eachother a little better and maybe the forums will be a bit more active and a bit more personal. Any takers?

Sounds like a plan. Just hopefully people will be able to do it at the same time. Kinda hard with the different time zones and all.

Alright, I'm in the AOL Messenger chat room "jetphotos" basically the way you get there is by inviting yourself into the chat room. Until somebody shows up I'll be enjoying a nice conversation with myself.

Can you chat on AOL Messenger without downloading the software?

Pidgin is a universal chat client, allowing you to consolidate all your different messaging apps into a single tool.

It's still software, but it's free and beats the hell out of aim.
