The Southwest Family has suffered the loss of a Family Member in the line of military duty. Finance Employee Charles Kitowski, an Analyst in our Ticketing Operations group, died on Sunday in Afghanistan from wounds suffered from a road side bomb as he was serving our country in the U.S. Army Reserves. Charles was called into service in January of this year and was due to return home for a break in November. He told many of his friends here at Southwest that he felt a duty to serve our country.

He was assigned to the 345th Psychological Operations Company, 2nd Psychological Operations Group, U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C.

"Charles died doing what he felt duty-bound to do. Please remember his life, his happy memories, his favorite expressions or advice he ever offered," his family said in a statement.

    - On a personal note, Charles was a friend of mine. We had a little group of friends that would have lunch together here at WN Headquarters in Dallas. Charles was a genuine and funny guy. He will be missed by many, including myself. My appreciation goes to him and all who serve in our Military.

Thats sad. Brings it right home to roost when you know the people in the situations reported on the news. My condolences for the loss of your friend and to his family for their sadness.

        Paul--

Got the message on the employee website, I hadn't realized he was a known friend of yours, Sorry to hear about that!

It always is hard to lose an employee in our own workforce, but to lose a friend one works with as well is even harder.

He served us well, both for Southwest and the Country!

Losing a friend Paul can be as hard or harder than losing a family member. Very sorry to hear the news.

Sorry to hear about this FlyingPhotog. If it wasnt for Bush he most likely would be alive today, but this isnt the time or place for politics.

Exactly, so why bring it up?
I'm really sorry to hear about that Paul. My best wishes to his family and everybody at WN who worked with him.

He was for America, not Bush.
