1/4 Final Weekend - RWC 2007

OK - for those who give a damn, The likes of Argentina, Scotland, France, New Zealand, England, Australia, Scotland and ourselves (S/Africa) will have a vested interest in the television this weekend.

Scotland over Argentina - it's very possible and after Scotland's success at football, the rugby side has a reputation to uphold. Methinks the tartan army is up for this game and I'm sure it will be a close call with Scotland having a very accurate boot to slot penalty kicks. Don't think the game will be pretty.

Wallabies and England: - So, what have England got to loose ? Besides the quarter finals, nothing much. I'm sure they will be more than competitive against Australia and the forward battle will be like trench warfare. I think the Aussies will win - by +- 8 points.

France and the All Blacks - spoke to my Kiwi b-in-law. "Quietly confident" is the general feeling. AB's are a tremendous side and they will win - BUT..... and it's always a "but" when France are involved. Perhaps a dose of "magic potion" from Getafix will allow an "upset". Certainly my head says NZ, but the heart begs for France to win. (and then get tumbled by the Aussies in the semis)

SA and Fiji: SA by plenty.

Wow - was yesterday ever a day for upsets - England o ver the Aussies - but that's OK - anyone who beats the "Oi, Oi, Oi's" is all right with me....

I called my sister after AB/France game - she was extatic of course. Her Kiwi hubbie, "less so" and her son, born in Scotland is now wearing his Bok jersey with his Scotland jersey held in reserve.

all blacks would have to be the biggest chokers in world rugby, I think I said to a few people that they'd not even make the final and I was dead on the money...for a brilliant team they certainly know how to underachieve.

France had the spirit and the physical attributes to beat New Zealand. Simple as that. The French also play a running-out-wide game which is great.

Can't wait for the semi-finals...

And so it was. Argentina played well enough to win, but were not that flattering. Scotland made some silly errors.

OK, semi's: SA will beat Argentina - that's the easy one to call.

England/France - Hmmm - France by +- 10 points. Bruising affair between the forwards - France's backline have the edge over England. Of course I would rather face England in the final........ Oh well, let's see.
