Honestly I don't see anything wrong with that. I live in the area where all my neighbours are company CEOs and make above average and theyr not bastards. They'r nice people, who I love talking to and they'r very helpfull too. They always invite us to bbq and stuff like on weekends etc. Really they worked hard to get what they have now so now they have the right to enjoy spending the money. I would love to have an account with 7 figures, a Ferrari in my garage and first class flight every week. And I woudn't feel bad about it. So I don't think theyr bastards. Just businessmen who were smart enough to earn what they have now.

All these people did was set their minds to something and never looked back, I'm picking these guys put their minds into every aspect of logical thinking to pull of this amount of money a year but does that make Richard Branson a "cheap bastard" too ? Calling people "cheap bastards" because of their excellent academic / monetary achievements is pretty low !

Out of the $78 million I'd love to know how much was profit.

you know that for a fact? last time I looked they made money regardless of the person investing, they charge fees and if your money heads south they still get paid. I know, I've been playing the market for a decade now...your analogy regarding astronauts is somewhat strange, I thought they were chosen from select few candidates...

Branson isn't a cheap bastard..he's a whore of the first order, he uses any which way he can to make money. I don't think he was that academically great either.

no...its not about making the right decisions at all, its about many factors and being able to exploit them. Learn a little about economics before you comment on it..

I took a mortgage because I'm not going to live at home with my mum for the rest of my life...Its a lifestyle choice and only that. I don't choose for the RBA to increase interest rates every few months because government like adding inflationary pressure to the economy. I sacrifice to make the ends meet without having to dip into my security fund.

everyone is a winner despite their academic attributes, just being able to wake up each morning is better than being dead...money can't buy you everything.

All this talk about making 7 digit salaries and buying multiple houses and cars... we should just take a step back and think for ourselves: why do we need all that money in the first place?
Status symbol? That's a pretty arbitrary and subjective criterion, and has no practical purpose.

Our whole economy is based on the unhealthy concept of "the more we spend the better" . We as a society are already using up resources way faster than they can be replenished. Some change should be in order, but that's not going to happen any time soon...

My family is far from rich, but we're very comfortable. We used to not be able to afford dinner at night and never had food in our fridge. We have money now, no food in our fridge, but we go out to eat pretty much every single night because we can afford it. We have things we never would have had before and we have them because we can now and it's a great way to live knowing that if you want something, you can have it because you worked hard.

So don't call rich people bastards. Most of them at some point worked just as hard as your mother did, and if they didn't it's just luck of the draw.

I've started my own business at the age of 15, I'm in flight training, and I work my ass off every week and in school with my business. When my parents die I will get quite a bit of money...Does that mean I'm a bastard? No!

Not even folks like Bill Gates or the Google Guys make 7.8 Billions in a single year. $78 millions, perhaps, but I strongly doubt anyone makes multiple billion dollars per year.
