  • I Have a Dream

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the Internet dream.

I have a dream that one day this website will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, and we wouldn’t mind having a few women join us, either."

I have a dream that one day on the bendy tubes of the internet, the sons of Crism and the sons of DrillMyHamster will be able to sit down together at the table of posterhood.

I have a dream that one day even the moderators, in a forum sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of their oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my three little children will one day post in a forum where they will not be judged by the ratings in their logbook, but by the conduct of their aliases.

    I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day, down under, with its vicious trolls, with The Shadow and The Knowledge having their lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Australia, little jp.net boys and ad.com girls will be able to join hands with little TAF boys and Proboards girls as sisters and brothers.

    I have a dream today.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the email-ring with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the server crash of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our forum into a beautiful symphony of posterhood. With this faith we will be able to post together, to laugh together, to think together, to snap photos together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My forum, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where sickbag was banned, land where emoticons stand, where backup servers are planned, let freedom ring!"

And if Jetphotos.net is to be a great forum this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire (where are ya, Nav?).

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York (DHHPITF).

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania (come back Philly Girl!)

Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado (Princess Leia!)

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California (Chasen!)

But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia (Emu!)

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee (Deadstick!)

Let freedom ring from the Lexington to Lawrenceburg and Louisville (Jordan!)

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi (Williezurmacht!). From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, trolls and mods, photographers and engineers, ad.com’ers and jp.net’ers, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

God Halfie...you've got way too much time on your hands. VERY well done though - VERY impressive!

That was so inspirational that it may even bring back DH.

      Touching, Halfie.
I will now leave the office, go home and hit the thumb on my left hand as hard as physically possible with a medium sized hammer. That should bring a tear to my eye.

Where the bloody Helvete is that crying smilie when you need him.

With sausages as big as yours, that should be a simple task. You could even have a few wee drams and bear no risk of missing with the added benefit of dulling the pain.

(And the double-added benefit of having a few wee drams).

There is no world outside the US. No surprise there.

Nothing wrong with my wieners, yet. I blame those silly little keys.
            I like that Catch 22 situation you're sketching though. Hmm, drink too much=pain-drink more=pain goes away-pain-another drink-pain gone-pain....in eternety.

Not a bad read, but ain´t you blowing your proportions a little by imitating Brother Martin, God may bless his soul?

What Halfie is trying to express, though with great subtility, is that the real world is all outside the USoA. What a man, such intellect!

I am too simple-minded for such great words, I fear.

Absolutely. It was intended as a tribute.

I start every King Day with reading and listening to that speech. And then I call my father, who was there that day on the Mall and remembers a man for whom most in attendance had low expectations, but who captured the mood and moment of the day in such a way that it literally caused a sea of humanity to hush. And listen. For decades.

AD.com spirit at its best... see, JPers? Great moments of poetry, of wisdom, of accounts throughout the world, of... even romantics, will come your way... until even this site will have a major crash...
