  • It's about time!!! Yay ME!!!!

I have been trying to assimilate into the populace here and in trying to figure out the best way to do this, I tried to take notice of what is important to JP-ers. And I realized it was planespott...Planespott...um....taking pictures of airplanes.

So, you know--- "When in Rome..."

Well, since Day 1 I have been trying to get this photograph uploaded but it kept getting rejected by the Nazi's here.

    The first rejection said "Motive".

Motive?! Motive?! What the heck does that mean?

So, I told the screener that,
"I was trying to capture a sense that this particular airplane was jealous of all the press the new Airbus planes were getting and it was going to perform a super-duper-dee-do take off to show it was just as good as those young whipper snapper airbus'. I guess it didn't come across in the shot huh?"

Then they told me to stop being such a dillhole and that motive meant, what am I trying to "SHOW" in the picture.

    I told them, "An Airplane".

Well, they didn't appreciate that and apparently they didn't have the patience to deal with me. BUT!!! the picture had enough merit to get uploaded if I worked on a few things.

So, I found a friend to help me adjust the contrast, color balance, play with the curves and all that. He even help me photoshop out some dust stops that apparently were on my camera that I didn't know about.

    So, I resbumitted.

It got rejected AGAIN!!! This time because it was "Offensive". WHAT?!!! Gimme a break!!!

Turns out--in this particular shot, there was some FOD on the runway. A cow to be precise. The plane T-Boned it and killed it. Cow bits EVERYWHERE!!!! Not pretty at all--

Well, the nazi's...er...screeners of this site, being mindful of the international status jetphotos.net enjoys, felt the need to be sensitive to those.....say from.... India. They thought it would be really bad PR to have a photo of a cow having got hit by an airplane.

So--I had my friend photoshop that out too!

And finally!!!! FINALLY!! It got accepted!!!

You can view my first photo from the link in my signature below.

Hope you enjoy -ed the ride!

Used a Nikon18-200mm VR on this one.

I've had a problem with vignetting on this photo for some reason though.

Call your parents up and tell them to spend like $1200 on a better camera so you can get the prop-blur.

Seem to remember it was Al Weaver who posted some rather dramatic airplane vs. animal collision photos. One was a zebra iirc.

I love the picture. Great paint scheme and I love the smiley faces in the cockpit windows. If only all pilots would smile.

I have no photos online so can I call you for tips?
