I'm on my 2nd Jetta (3rd VW) and my middle car was an electrical pig. Lights blew all the time, but the best time was when the mechanic leaned on the wet car and got a shock. The front lights were shorting out and he couldn't figure out the problem. The night the drivers seat caught fire (3 am actually)when I was driving down the highway was quite exciting.

My Audi A6 was the worse car I ever had, problem after problem after problem, replaced it with another German car which is marginally better.

I shall let you know after I have owned one. The M3 looks very appealing.

                  Or owned by one

I heard the M5 is plagued by electrical gremlins too...

Not heard of any problems with M5. M5 is way way out of my league. Your looking at a brand new one for over £60,000, used are approx £40,000-£50,000.

Whereas a M3 is (used) approx £25-30,000. Might be able to push myself to that.

WILL edit the above if I win the £95 million EuroMillions Lottery!!

Make an effort: just think about that V10...

3 years and counting now on mine without a single issue.

I'd agree about the M3 too, that's my money-no-object ultimate (& everyday) car.
Anyone willing to donate me AUD150k??
Back in the real world though, I'll just salivate until May when I can trade my existing in for a 135i

I think I will have to wait for the depreciation to kick in a little on the M5. But the M3 is a maybe. A 3.2 V6 sounds alright.

At this moment in time its still a dream!!

Good to know: it looks like it is the last German engineering marvel left standing...

BMW are still holiding on to the glorious inline six (at least for now).
                              Hope this *never* changes.

My dad had a current-gen 525i. I'll spare you the details, but I'll tell you that the Lemon replacement went back after two weeks.
