robin, I wish it would mean that. I fear it will just entrench the hideous welfare mentality that has overtaken developed (UK) and underdeveloped (arab urban ghettoes here) communitites. The professional victim mentality, I call it.

Translated this now means "no more "special treatment" for you, stand on your own two feet like the rest of us."

I wonder if the Kiwi's will do the same ???

Get ready ! The Australian plaintiff lawyers are whetting their appetites ready for the flood of aboriginal lawsuits coming soon, once our dear new leader says sorry tomorrow for rescuing previous generations of abused aborigines.. meanwhile current generations live off welfare, have extraordinary rates of child abuse and VD / STDs in childhood (!!!!!!!!) and sniff petrol and have a life expectancy 30 years less than the rest of us. Go figure.

    (Kevin Rudd will say )

We apologise for the laws and policies of successive parliaments and governments that have inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss on these our fellow Australians,'' the apology says.
"We apologise especially for the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, their communities and their country.

"For the pain, suffering and hurt of these stolen generations, their descendants and for their families left behind, we say sorry.

"To the mothers and the fathers, the brothers and the sisters, for the breaking up of families and communities, we say sorry.

"And for the indignity and degradation thus inflicted on a proud people and a proud culture, we say sorry.''

All well and good, here we are apologising for the well-meaning and not necessarily incorrect judgements of two generations ago, against a politically invented "stolen generation" courtesy of some leftie luvvie academics. THe billion dollar spinoff industry in Aboriginal compensation will just disappear in lawyers' pockets and more booze / abuse for the indigenous.
