UEFA Euro 2008

Hey everyone,

Less than one week to go for the world's third largest sport event, the
European football (soccer for those on the other side of the pond ) championship hosted in Austria and Switzerland. 16 teams from 16 countries will participate and hopefully fight in a non-violent against each other.

Now, who do you think will make it?
Is anyone going to view a game life or visit one of the numerous fan areas in the host cities?

My money is on Italy and I'll be a regular visitor at the fan area in Innsbruck as well!

My money is on Italy

"Geh doch zu Hause, du alte...", well, you get the twist . Betting on Italy, pah, now that Cannavaro's out, even Luca Toni's goals won't be enough to give them the title. My money's on Germany, reaching the finale is minimum. We should easily win our group and advance along with Croatia, and all 4 teams in group A are beatable, so the finale is guaranteed. Italy will have an uphill battle in their "death group" with France and the Dutch.

Yeah you are probably right about that. Think the French will be second and that we will be dead.. ( No, I do not believe our team is very strong)

I am just happy the the Netherlands can not paly against the Germans before the KLu air show in Leeuwarden is over.

Apart from that I would love to see the Spanish win.

So am I . Fewer fights to deal with on the streets/in the pubs and less chance of a smack in the teeth for me while going about my job !!

Ugh...I thought that Poland might have had a chance to pull even at 1-1, but then they shoot themselves in the foot with a defensive mistake in the second half and fall behind 2-0. Very deflating.... A must-win game coming up next against Austria and it doesn't look like that's gonna be any easier.

Another Waterloo for Poland. Sorry, folks, but that must have said after the headlines of the Polish papers in the days before the game. Normally I don't care about nerds in the world press (where ever they are), but this was too much. It is only sport, no war.

Another? When was the first one? Oh well, never mind, if there can be another Waterloo, I'm sure another Stalingrad is only a matter of time. One day we will afford to keep our best players at home. Both goals scored for Germany by Polish born Podolski.

As for the most unfortunate images in the papers printed in Poland, we are ashamed and truly sorry for them. We refer to the tabloids like the one in question as "Polish language media" as they are not Polish, but only printed in Polish. The main share holder of this tabloid is a Swedish publisher house.
