I guess now we'll need air marshalls on buses as well.

Well then they wouldn't be air marshalls. In reality, there aren't even that many air marshalls.

This sickens me so much. Not that it's going to solve anything, but I honestly hope they execute the bastard who did this.

Chances are he's mentally ill and will not go to trial but will spend a long time in a mental institution.

Which is BS in my opinion. Why waste the time and money trying to "rehabilitate" someone like this? If by "long time" you mean the rest of his life, then maybe I can understand. But there should not be any chance for this man to be released into society ever again.

well if he is mentally ill it goes a long way to explaining this kind of savagery....unless you've experienced mental illness then its hard to know what it was that was going through his mind, I'd lay money on him being schizophrenic.

He appeared in court today with arm cuffs and leg shackles. He didn't say anything and refused the right to be represented by a lawyer.

If he really has mental problems, then I agree with the people who say that it is the state's responsibility to not allow these kinds of people on the streets. This illustrates again the general apathy towards these problems in society.

Instead of a long trial after the noodle check, why not fly this a$$hole into the high Arctic. Drop him off on an island with only the clothes on his back. He would be of no danger to anyone perhaps only himself.(Bonus)
He would have a better chance of surviving than he gave his young victim. Screw it........get a rope. It's cheaper than the plane and pilot.
                    Who's on first?..........

Heres an idea, why don't they saw off all his limbs while he's fully concious and then pour salt all over his wounds while he bleeds to death? Of course, he still deserves MUCH more than that, but thats the best I can think of.

Nuts like this should be drown at birth, I don't care what kind of mental problem he has, any person capable of an act like this doesn't diserve to live.

                        IT's becoming contagious..........

                        http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7539944.stm

A man who decapitated his girlfriend and paraded the head around a village on the Greek island of Santorini is now fighting for his life in hospital.
Athanassios Arvanitis, a 31-year-old chef, was shot five times by police before his arrest. He has wounds to his lungs and is in intensive care.
The authorities believe the deadly rampage was triggered by his dismissal as a chef in a hotel.
Three women injured during the police chase are said to be out of danger.
The trail of violence began when the man used a butcher's knife to decapitate his girlfriend's dog on the balcony of their home in the village of Vourvoulos, near Santorini's main town Thira.
Next, Mr Arvanitis allegedly killed his girlfriend, a 25-year-old teacher called Adamantia Karkali, by stabbing her in the armpit.
He then cut her head off and began parading it around the streets.
During a dramatic chase, Mr Arvanitis tried and failed to behead a policeman. He was then shot five times and arrested.
Doctors at Santorini's medical centre say that despite his injuries they found it almost impossible to restrain him.
Two women doctors knocked from their motorbike by Mr Arvanitis as he tried to get away in a police jeep are said to be out of danger, as is a Greek woman tourist who was hit by a ricocheting bullet as she watched the sunset.
People living in Santorini say they have not witnessed such savagery on this iconically beautiful island since the Germans carried out executions during the World War II occupation.

I don't think mental institutions focus on "rehabilitation", that's what jails are supposedly for. He'll spend the remainder of his life on varios medications that will make him manageble for the staff. I doubt he'll ever be able to rejoin society. Although I don't know much about Canadian legal system.
