A University of Iowa professor was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly asking female students to let him fondle their breasts in return for an “A” grade for the class.

Arthur Herbert Miller, 66, of 1700 N. Dubuque Road, faces four counts bribery, a class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He was admitted to the Johnson County Jail at 3:56 p.m. Friday and released......

Police teams comb park for Miller

Iowa City Police are combing through Hickory Hill Park looking for University of Iowa professor Arthur Miller and are warning nearby residents to be cautious.

However, Iowa City Police Sgt. Troy Kelsay said it is possible that Miller has already taken his own life.

“It’s a possibility, maybe even a likelihood Mr. Miller is no longer with us,” he said.

Miller, 66, of 1700 N. Dubuque Road, was arrested Aug. 8 on four counts of accepting a bribe. Criminal complaints allege Miller offered four female students a chance to better their grades in exchange for sexual favors. He was released on his own recognizance Aug. 9.

But Miller’s wife called the police before 7 a.m. today to report her husband was missing and that he had left a possible suicide note. He was last seen Tuesday morning.

According to a news release, police have learned that Miller purchased a high-powered rifle in mid-June. Miller’s vehicle has been located parked at Upper Hickory Hill Park. Police are concerned Miller may be in the park with the rifle and are conducting a systematic search..........
