  • What did you guys think of last night's political debate?

Ok so let's try to make it easy....

    What's your political affiliation?

Did you agree with your candidate's speech/points raised last night?

If not, then why and/or how so?

Has the debate changed your mind about your candidate?

Has the debates changed your mind about who to cast your vote for?

What did you guys think about the overall debates?

I'll wait for a few responses (hopefully...) to see what you guys think before commenting.
Whatever is necessary, is never unwise.

I wanted to see it, but missed it because I was busy watching my friend get busted by his mom for going thru his sisters panties. She made him read the bible aloud and kicked me out of the house "forever" for laughing hystericaly at a "Situtation which is not the least bit funny." She's right, it wasn't funny, it was f***ing hilarious.

As far as the debate, people have told me that neither candidate really seemed to preform better.

        Some random thoughts:

        1) Neither really stood out

        2) McCain was repetitive, using a few criticisms several times against Obama instead of actually responding to the point at hand.

        3) Last night was supposed to be McCain's night to shine (as he has a clear advantage on foreign policy), but he didn't. I think Biden will destroy Palin on Thursday, and Obama will pull ahead in the future, more domestic-focused debates.

        4) The moderator sucked.

Yes, we can, and yes, we will.

few things from a foreign POV...

McCain talked a lot about the past, I think we went from the 70's to the 80's & 90's in one hit, then when he did come to the present he decided he'd drop a few names & mention a few towns he's been to...all well & good but it didn't really address the issues.

the most disturbing part about McCain was the ease with which he politicised the troops, I found that to be in very poor taste.

I'd like to tell you, two Fourths of July ago I was in Baghdad. General Petraeus invited Senator Lindsey Graham and me to attend a ceremony where 688 brave young Americans, whose enlistment had expired, were reenlisting to stay and fight for Iraqi freedom and American freedom.
if he's so up for a war and getting kids on the frontline then why doesn't he get his own out there?

one other thing I found to be in contradiction with McCain's talk about old boy networks was his referencing of Henry Kissinger and having his VP getting advice from him, I thought he wanted to get rid of those old boy networks?

for me nobody won...which probably favours Obama because this was supposed to be McCain's strong suit..and he didn't nail him at all.

I'm a registered independent, but I lean right on a lot of the issues.

I thought the candidates were equally dull when it came to economic policies, but when it came to foreign policy I though McCain destroyed Obama. Making note of the fact that Obama hasn't even been to Afghanistan, that he was wrong on the surge, and that McCain has decades of foreign policy experience to build on whereas Obama just has what his advisers told him last week.

if he's so up for a war and getting kids on the frontline then why doesn't he get his own out there?
The man is already a POW and war hero, and you still criticize him on this? Grow up. McCain has done more for his country than Obama ever will.

Well lets wait and see if Obama gets the presidency and if so see how it goes before we come to that conclusion.

By cracking and giving up secrets? I'm getting a little tired of "not being allowed" to call McCain out because he was tortured 40 years ago. His service to this country in the past DOES NOT make him infallible, or in my opinion, any more qualified to run this nation than anyone who wasn't.
Not to mention the man crashed three U.S. aircraft through his career WITHOUT being shot at.

Cheap shot. Being tortured every day for 5 years will do that to a person. That's really an awful comment, but honestly I wouldn't expect anything less from an Obama supporter. They have already made fun of McCain over his POW injuries.

Of course not. My response was directed at Longreach's absurd comment that McCain needs to do more militarily for his country. I think 5 years in a POW camp more than qualifies as service to his country, and McCain has done more militarily than Obama, Palin, Biden, Bush, Kerry, Gore, Clinton, etc. Only Bob Dole probably ranks up there with McCain as far as distinguished military service.

And we all know Dubya can land on an aircraft carrier. Is that something to really choose a President over? McCain is obviously a better fighter pilot than Obama, so I'm not really sure what you are getting at here.

I just can't wait till it's over, I don't even bother watching the news anymore because it's the same BS day after day. The debate just proves neither of them are that great, and are just trying their best to channel the hot air that comes out of their mouths in a way that they hope will get them more votes, with the major difference being a D or an R before their names

I never made fun of McCain, I was merely stating the truth. Nobody deserves to be tortured for five years.

Solitary confinement for 2 years (which to most people is totrure), lack of medical care for his broken bones, beatings every 2 hours, etc. McCain was tortured regularly.

He can't even lift his arms above his head now, and his hair turned white from the experience.

In August 1968, a program of severe torture began on McCain.[41] He was subjected to rope bindings and repeated beatings every two hours, at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery.[30][41] Further injuries led to the beginning of a suicide attempt, which was stopped by guards.[30] After four days, McCain made an anti-American propaganda "confession".[30] He has always felt that his statement was dishonorable, but as he would later write, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine."[42][43] His injuries left him permanently incapable of raising his arms above his head.[44] He subsequently received two to three beatings per week because of his continued refusal to sign additional statements.[45] Other American POWs were similarly tortured and maltreated in order to extract "confessions" and propaganda statements,[46] with many enduring even longer and worse treatment. Virtually all of the POWs who were tortured eventually yielded something to their captors.[47]

^ all well & good but that doesn't make him presidential material. anyone that brings it up as much as he does probably hasn't fully dealt with it, which goes a long way to explaining & his temper erratic behaviour.

anywhere else in the world and McCain/Palin would've been knifed by his own party by now.

Let's compare McCain vs. Obama's records on veterans benefits:

                            GI Bill
                            Obama - For it
McCain - Against it. In fact not only was he against it, but he actively tried to scuttle it.

                            VA Health Care Funding
Obama - Voted to fully fund the VA.
McCain - Voted against it. Said it was wasteful.

                            VA Classification
Obama - Wants to preserve the current system so that million of vets can get the care we deserve.
McCain - Wants to restrict VA eligibility to only the most grievously wounded thus throwing million of vets off the rolls.

The only thing the debate highlighted is how messed up the US political system has become. Instead of trying to promote there plans for the future of this country, they acted like a couple of kids in a playground arguing about whos dog is bigger.

The sad fact is that neither one is presidential material and this once great country will spiral further into the dumps of despair
