MTV's announcement comes as a host of organizations are planning inaugural balls in Washington, where more than a million people are expected to be drawn to the nation's capital for the occasion.

This isn't the official Inaugural ball, simply an MTV-led celebration. MTV has played an active role in the get out the vote campaigns over the past few years, helping to raise participation among younger Americans. If they want to celebrate, I see no problem with it.
