Sweetheart, it's had a GPS since the 3G was launched.

It works quite well too. A compass is a good idea though and used to augment the GPS. The GPS doesn't know which way you're pointing until you start moving. When I first got the phone I had some fun in Canton, OH (ok...so that's not really possible). The buildings were blocking the signal and was making it hard to figure out where I was. I'd walk a block in what seemed like the right direction. Check the phone again and I was now 2 blocks backwards and 1 block over from where I actually was.

Just picked up the new iPhone 3G S and it's great. Much faster and better than my first generation it seems.
