  • The Bird At The Knob Off Of My Lens!!!

First I would like to introduce you to the culprit. Our African grey that we call Birdie.

He's normally a very cute guy that has an affection for electronic noises. He flies over to the kitchen bar and waits for food. Well last night I was working on a project and had set one of my cameras on the bar where my laptop was so I could download some images off of the CF card. My fiancee was parked up on the couch watching gray's anatomy. For some reason neither one of us heard him fly over to the bar. It wasn't till I hear a loud plastic click noise that I stuck my head up to find Birdie with the AF/M switch in his beak. It was kinda surreal being that this lens cost me US $1749.00 and here it is with a hole in it and a plastic switch dangling from the side.

After I got over the shock I looked up my Sony rep and emailed her right away to see if there is anything she can do for me and my poor Carl Ziess 24-70/f2.8 SSM. The jury is still out but I hope there will be a happy outcome to this event.

I just thought I would share this as it was quite a random event.

Damn! A budgie would have done the trick. But no!

At least, he seems to be addicted to photography.

Feathery little bastard, that's all I can say!

Hope the lens doesn't cost too much to get sorted!

He might just prefer the taste of Sony.

I think he might ONLY want to taste the Sony flavour.... and I think he didn't like it.

                He leaved the knob there....

That almost doesn't look too bad until you notice the cut in the ribbon cable. Ouch!

I'm sure that bird will be worth a few ££'s.If it did that to my lens, I would give it away for free to a taxidermist!!!!

Nooo, come on. You'd want to make at least something out of it!

Anyway, we'd probably best stop talking about Andrews no doubt much loved pet like this now!

Yea sorry Andrew for thinking of ways to punish your bird (doesn't quite sound right, but I'm sure you know what I mean).
