NASA has confirmed that the new soccer ball is the right shape, size, weight and travels at the right speed to have unstable airflows and a randomly-shifting flight paths.

    Thoughts?

PS: Mods- this post directly deals with aerodynamics.

How is this related to aviation?
August 29th will be the worst day of the year.

Because a part of aviation is designing a/c with as little drag as possible. This includes testing aerodynamics of every day shapes to analyze how they travel through space, calculating the data, and then, in a very, very rough sense, applying it to design.

        Now I understand everything.
That explains why we lost 4-0 against Germany!.

About your question, "It's quite obvious. You're seeing a knuckle-ball effect". (NASA)

Now if you want something really hard to explain, then you've got Paul the octopus.

I wonder if varying airflows ever affects those ducted tri-jets like the good ole 727, or if certain control surfaces don't sometimes flutter?

Indeed, although I blame the French.

Here we have a smoke test.......Real aerodynamics.

Did the airstream separate leading to something akin to a stall?

              Again, it's "¿Qué?"

              And it's Paul the octopus.

(no joke, this thing has me completly puzzled)

                Not exactly, but close.

have you heard of the Von Karman street?

Now, put a sphere instead of a cylinder, and the vortex are not limited to detach from one side and then the opposite side, they can detach an any point around the ball and then at any other point, making the thing chaotic and unpredictable.
