    I would think it was up to the country. Just like I think they changed the name of the city of "Pusan" to "Busan".

    In French it is "Coree". Like Peking and Beijing. Its up to the country. I'm not sure why they would even ask.

    That's kidna funny...but understandable. Many people in India are so enraged by the Brits that they demand roads with short names (like Queens Street) and they turn them into long names (like Ramakrishnan Chandrashekhar Nehru Margh). Of course, that was just a fake example, but some of the changes are like that.

    Korea just wants to be known as its former unf Japanese country.

    There's a lobby wanting the country be spelt as 'Corea' as it was pre-Japanese occupation time( till early 20th century), it is already spelt with a 'C' in French, Spanish, Portugese and Italian. I think the 'K' spelling in better.
