For those who don't know about the bombing of the Conservative party conference at the Grand Hotel....it was perpetrated by the IRA who probably got their explosives from the Libyans and certainly trained in Libyan training camps.
The IRA commanders made a very interesting and very true comment after the bombing. They said...."We only have to get lucky once, YOU have to be lucky every time".

Never was a truer word spoken.

Surely now that you confessed to being in the middle of it, the evidence much stronger supports your, rather than Libyan involvement.

There have been many terrorist events down the years for which no claims of responsibility have been made. It's also a well known phenomenon that some people admit to crimes they didn't commit, as well as sometimes terrorist groups claiming deeds they didn't carry out.

Anyway, what was the motive of the Libyans ? They didn't really unambiguously admit to it until the international trial, and that was only for reasons of expediency. Before that, they tended to deny responsibility, while generally they did admit to the UTA DC-10. There were several other parties who were more than capable of PA103, with much more convincing motives as well.

I would agree about the Fletcher shooting, and he got what he deserved for that alone. No-one will shed a tear for Ghaddafi.

However, the accepted view that the Libyans brought down PA103 over Lockerbie is pretty weak and an accusation of mere political convenience.
The Libyans almost certainly didn't do it.

Amen to that. A colleague of mine was ambulance incident commander at Lockerbie. He saw things that no man should see.

Let us also not forget WPC Yvonne Fletcher who died in 1984 outside the Libyan Embassy in London after a shot was indiscriminately fired from inside the Embassy.

Unlikely. A bullet wound to the head seems to have finished him off. Prior to that he seems to have lost a lot of blood, was disoriented, and may not have even been fully conscious.

However, I tend to think that at some level, a person as malicious as Gaddafi suffers constantly throughout his life, and this just put him out of his misery.

Your narrative is compelling, and is a good reminder that when someone has a personal connection to a tragedy, his perspective is far different than it is for those of us who drone on about meaningless statistics or the stupidity of dead pilots, mindless of the human side of the event.
