  • I got a new Job!!!

Happy to report I've got a new job! Initially it was my own choice look for new opportunities but my company decided last week to close down the division of the company I work resulting in 800 layoff's, so the timing was perfect. What's even better is I'll be laid off with a large severance package and a new job in hand. I have to say so far 2003 is turning out to be a pretty good year for me. So to celebrate I'm leaving for Arizona next week for four days at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort at Gainey Ranch. I've stayed there before and it's absolutely perfect. Flying out Wednesday from JFK on American!

My new position will be as a Regional Trainer for one of the nations largest office supply companies. Same field different product then what I do now. Looking forward to the change.

I'll still be working on Long Island, I'm just going out to AZ for some R&R before I start. 2002 was a rough year at work most of my co-workers and friends were laid off and more and more work was given to us who remained, so I really need this time to myself to clear my mind and start fresh. I'll try to take some pics at the airports and post them.

Congrats!! I took a early retirement package from the Army many moons ago but am about 20 years away from being put out to pasture. Lots of work is available, question is what one is willing to accept. Dunno how far out you are on Long Island, but being in a major urban centre is a major plus when it comes to finding new employment. So I likely am pulling pole in the upcoming months and moving to Toronto/GTA; the thought of living in a metro area now approaching 4 1/2 million people is not a positive one, but there are so many industries there, in comparison with this place which really has two major employers, high tech, which is in the doldrums right now, and the federal government, which I had my fill of.
