I think they are great! One even put a note through my window warning about leaving them unlocked, it's nice that they are out keeping an eye on things around here! They have a very difficult job indeed.
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
I like the Police until they tell me that they need to take my camera for taking pictures of aircraft from a public road. Then they can KISS MY A$$! I have respect, but deserve it from them too. I have no problem being questiond and I feel almost all are good, I hate the ones that give police a bad name!

I've had a couple run-ins with them recently. I was parking my bus in a hotel parking lot late on Friday night and one came over to see who it was I dropped off. I was kind of a smartass because I wanted to shut the bus down and get to sleep as soon as possible. All good though.
Then the next night, Saturday night, I had two police encounters. I drove a group of people around to a bunch of small town bars for a bar crawl and in one of the small towns a county sherrif's deputy pulled up just to see what was going on but no big deal.
Later that night I was driving my car home from work at 3am and I had a headlight out. I see a policeman pull up to the cross street I was passing and I thought, "I am so getting pulled over." As I passed right in front of the police car I slowed and stared strait at him. I gave him that 'I know you're there and want to pull me over' look. He pulled out and followed me for a bit but I ended up being let go. I figure since I acknowledged him he figured I had nothing to hide.
In general I like policemen though. I usually don't get bothered and it's been since 1998 that I have recieved a traffic ticket. I did get an underage drinking award back in 2000 and that sort of pissed me off and the cop had to lie in court to get the conviction, but I was breaking the law and it's a risk I chose to take.
Today I was at JFK taking 3+ rolls of film of the Concorde's last landing when a PA PD officer asked for all info and wanted us to hang around. There was a little more to it but he was nice, finally said that someone wanted to talk to us but is taking there time so we should bug out!
Lots of GREAT SHOTS! I think, it was film so I could not see it right away.

Some are good, and some are dicks. I've had police encounters where the police were great. I've also had one and so have my friends where the police were overzealous a-holes.
I don't have a problem with the Police; for the most part they treat you with respect whenever I've dealt with them. Sometimes however I think they forget that they are there to "Protect and Serve" the public. As DERF mentioned sometimes they take it to far. A few of my friends are cops and for the most part they're professional, but some of the stories they tell me what they do on the job I have to disagree with.
it all depends whats police man/woman you are dealing with. An example of a cop being a ******************** is when im at the airport and the cops are telling me that my love of aircrafts is a crime. Belive me, im a young black man who dresses like a gangsta or a hip-hop star as some people would say, but thats what I grew up around and thats my style. un fortunitly some racist people think im only at the airport to make trouble and they try to get the cops on me. or even some cops are rasist and try to get me away. Sometimes its not about race, its about me liking to be around planes, and the cops tell me my hobby is a crime. they tell me stuff like they gonna have to comfisact my camera, and im felling like"how bout I shove my camera up your ass so you wont have to deal with it dumb ass"
That really depends. I have a lot of respect for American Cops, but I don't give a f*** about that cop wannabes from the TSA. Same in German. I have respect for the BGS policemen, whereas on the other hand I think our normal policemen in Germany are just a bunch of frightened chickens, that are intimitated whenever a drug dealer pulls out a gun. They only go after the weak ones, but leave out the big villains. Plus, policemen, at least here in Hamburg, are too corrupt to be respected.
