  • most dangerous driving?

What is the country is the most dangerous to drive?

I think Philippines because too much overtake and no seatbelt on.

I'll vote for Virgin Gorda in the British West Indies... your driving on the sides of mountains or clifs with no guard rails and its not set up for 2 lane traffic at soem parts. But I'm sure there are places that are alot worse than that.

I recently visited Brussels, Belgium. Worst driving I've ever seen, they must be the worst in western Europe at least.

Almost every car has dents and all you hear is horns being used constantly by the most impatient drivers I've ever seen! No offence to any Belgians here.

The most dangerous highway/road in the world is in Portugal. I can't remember which highway it is but I think it's the one that runs from Lisbon to the South Coast.

Anywhere in Latin America is a driving-disaster. The only easy-driving country in the region is Uruguay. They respect the rules over there. If not, try visiting Lima, Bogotá or, in a minor way, Buenos Aires. Also Israel is terrible.

I've only been to France in Europe.. But I still ask my french friends.. HOW CAN YOU DRIVE! I would be scared to death to drive in France. Narrow streets.. small itty bitty cars.. fast traffic.. combination for a hideous accident.

                  Greece
                  Spain
                  Italy

All have incredibly bad drivers. Greece has the most fatalities in Europe.

Most dangrous driving- any part of the rural south after a snowfall. I would guess 9/10ths of the people there don't have snow tires, and another 9/10ths don't know how to drive in the snow. Scary!

Ohh Bogotá.... although the authorities have taken measures to it and they have given results, it's not the best place yet to drive (and won't be for loooooooong time), but the accidents and deaths have decreased lots.

                        Beware when driving there anyway.

There is a highway. Nice and clean. Then there is a river. The rain is pouring, so visibility is low. The highway begins to get some potholes. By the time five minutes pass, the old jeep is going 70 kms on a REALLY bumby highway. The highway then becomes a narrow lane wide enough for one vehicle only. A truck is coming up from the opposite side. The driver of the jeep presses on, even though the lights of the truck are visible... the drive of the the truck is drunk, he doesn't see the jeep's bright lights. He presses on as well. The jeep is still doing 70. The rain is still pouring. No one is stopping. In the end, the jeep swerved off the road into a ditch to avoid getting hit headon by a drunken truck driver. And in that jeep was me.

To this day, I don't forgive either drivers for not stopping.

Oh yeah, my vote goes for India, where the above story occured.

                            * even when they are operational stop/yield sign and red lights are to be regarded as OPTIONAL
                            * have to mind for people who drive at night but equally ignore the head and tail lights of there vehicles
                            * roads often in bad shapes and coming out narrow
                            * the priority is in fact taken by the biggest, don't try to show you are right if the opposition is a 35 ton trailer !
