  • Informations about "Queen Mary II" (the ship) need

    Hi.
After I didn't get the right infos from the internet I decided to ask the guys around here.
I'm planning to go to the First Atlantic crossing of the biggest cruising ship worldwide the "Queen Mary II". The only thing I know is it takes place on 12th of january at Southampton. My questions are:
    - which time will it start
    - where will it start - shouldn't be uneasy to find if you're in the port there
    - how to get to Southampton from Germany or from STN, LHR to Southampton
    - do you know some pages like jetphotos.net for ships
    - were can I get information about the "maiden journey" (correct?) of "Queen Mary II" from

Hope that someone can help me.
Thank you a lot and have nice christmastime.

    Bye, Georg.

This would be a good place to start.

Did you book the crossing already?
From what I know, QMII's first few voyages are fully booked.

Anyway, if you have booked a crossing with them, you should have already receieved the package (including the tickets and directions) from Cunard.

Otherwise, talk with your travel agent for some later crossings and book early to get an early discount.

There is no shipphotos.net, but here is something interesting you can look into. Most of the ships posted here are those for the mass market. Not too many from the highest caliber.

        Sorry, I misunderstood your question.

I guess you mean you want to see QM2 depart on that date, right?

Alright, here is the info you need regarding the time.

        ----------------------------------
Amid a spectacular firework celebration, Queen Mary 2 will set sail on her 14 day maiden voyage from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale on Monday 12 January 2004.

She will leave the QEII terminal at 1730 hrs and sail towards Mayflower Park. Once off Mayflower Park, at 1750 hrs, a dazzling firework display will take place before she swings round and begins her voyage down Southampton Water.

As expected, her maiden voyage sold out months ago and many of her other voyages are proving very popular.

A special highlight of Queen Mary 2’s inaugural schedule will be her maiden eastbound crossing from New York on 25 April as both Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 will sail in tandem. This day will be the first time two Cunard Queens will have berthed in the port together since March 1940.
