  • Unbeeeleeevable stuff you read from time in the news

The Australian Consul-General in Los Angeles was asked to speak to students at one of California's top universities, UCLA.

"What language do you speak in Australia?" a student, studying Asia-Pacific studies, asked him after the speech.

    :P

Now there is a student that should be pulling F's......

            Yeah .. sure is unbelievable.

It just makes no sense that someone who has made it into a university, and who is actually studying the region would ask such a stupid question.

There is no intelligent answer to that question. I think dead silence, a disbelieving look, a shake of the head and a quick departure would be the only thing to do without causing an international incident.

            Hope it's not a test question ...

Hey ADG, I have got one I personnally witnessed
              Location was at UCLA
              Occasion was a summer school
Attendees were a group of French and Italian summer students
              Accomodation was in the dorms,
in the building in which some of us were lodging, there was also a group of Midwesterners just off high school and who were on their ways for admission thru some selection.
A Midwestern yound lady once approached one of the Italian ladies who off course was left speachless and agape when asked if in Italy
-locals had to wear silver rings across the nose and whether they differenciated from native americans by wearing feathers on butts !!!
              Regards
              Alain
              Thanks for visiting

Probably something along the lines of "a butchered version of the english language".
