  • Anti Lock Brakes

My current car is the first one I've ever owned with the feature and I hate it. I'd rather be able to control the brakes myself, I hate it when the car takes over.

Is there something easy I can do to disable the anti lock brakes?

you cannot control the brakes as well as the sensor.

You do know how it works? Right?

      Speaking of cars...

Sorry for the bad quality. And in case you were wondering, no that isn't my car.

Of course I know how ABS works, and I agree that a car with ABS could probably make a shorter panic stop than a car without. That's good if you drive like an idiot.

I just hate the sensation. When I want the car to slide, I want it to slide.

That's what Anti-lock brakes are designed to prevent. If you wanted that why would you get a car with Anti-lock brakes?

I somehow agree with the fact that ABS might rappresent a pain in the..... in some situations and that the car could be driven better without it , only if you are a VERY VERY GOOD driver....I personally disconnect the fuse of the ABS, this is how I dissable it!!!! Watch it, don't hurt your SELF and others!!!!

Funny, it looks like some african cabs, think the guy did not drive very far unless the policemen were on strike !!!

Forgive me Van Hoolio for going off topic .

Uy707, the guy didn't even make it out of the parking lot. He blew his back suspension out.

Well one day (hopefully this will not happen) you just may be thanking the ABS when it saves your life!

I think I am a pretty competent driver with or without ABS! The vehicles I drive at work certainly don't have it.

Hello Van Hoolio , I know ABS can really be a pain in the....... when you want the car to skid of slide. But as JeffinDEN said that you cannot think as fast as the sensors, if something comes in front of you. The first thing your going to do is slam on the brakes. Not think about pumping the brakes. You don't have time to think, accidents happen in a split second, i would know. I was in one a few years back. We were going about 60 on the road, it was rainning also, and all of a sudden this old guy pulled his car out right in front of us. Our car slammed into his at about 40MPH, if it hadn't been for ABS our car would have went into his at 60MPH thus causing greater damage. Our car caught on fire right after, but luckly we got out(my brother was driving, my dad was in the front seat, and i was in the back). Its not a joke when you are driving 6,000-8,000lbs things at 60-70MPH. Well have fun with your new car, and be safe.

Thats like saying "my landings are so smooth I'm going to take the shocks out of my landing gear because I'm just that good". Thats one thing I hate, overconfidence. As has been pointed out, putting yourself in danger is no big deal. When you're driving you also have other peoples lives in your hands, both in your car and out. Putting them at risk because you want to be able to have fun is foolish, cocky, and selfish.
