  • Happy Australia Day!

Just want to wish a Happy Australia day to all Aussies (and ex-pats) that contribute to these forums. The weather here in Sydney is currently horrible so there won't be any photography today. At least there is cricket on TV!

"January 26th, Australia Day. Commemorating the landing of the first fleet under the command of Captain Arthur Phillips. Should be a holiday in UK as well, that's the day they were finally rid of the first batch of the unwanted."

That's funny, why do all you poms want to come here then?? You know you made a mistake and should have left the crims in england and moved everyone else to Australia instead of the other way around.

Walking to class today here on the ERAU campus, I followed this "Austrailian" who had a piece of paper taped to the back of his shirt saying: HAPPY AUSTRAILIAN DAY!

He even had a Boomerang tucked into the back of his pants! :P

Alas, here in Washington we did not get a day off for Australia Day.

(My office was decorated with a huge Australian flag and a blow-up kangaroo, though!)

We have got a couple of Australian bars in Paris, but sadly none came up with ads everywhere the way US ones makes 4th of July Independance Day. Anyway, Happy day, Australia, and please excuse me for being late.
              Regards

My Australian flag has been flying from my flagpole all week and I only have one "VB" left in the fridge. Somehow there are three jars of Vegimite in the cupboard.
