  • I consider myself an aviation geek, because...

    - I have subscriptions to Aero International and Flugrevue
    - I buy Airliners, Airways, Air International and Airliner World whenever
    I'm in the USA
    - I spend at least 1.5 hours per day on the net, surfing aviation sites (depending on school requirement)
    - I spend at least one hour on FS2004 (depending on school)
    - I spend at least one hour on my computer photoshopping (or rather "Paint"-ing), making Excel timetables and other stuff
    - I have around 30 books about aviation
    - I have around 13 timetables from Delta and around 20 from numerous other airlines
    - I have around 240 planes in 1:600, 1:500, 1:400. 1:250 and 1:65
    - I wear aviation shirts
    - I watch airlines' stocks
    - I watch everything on TV about aviation (except low-quality movies)
    - I would kill for a job in the aviation business (ok, that ones gone a little too far )

    Now it's your turn .

    - Due to space, I don't buy magazine anymore, unless there's a feature on either classic narrobody 4 holers or a thoughout on exotic airlines and locations.
    - However, I roam at last once a week
*the local branches of Brentano's, WH & Smith and some spec.shops for a press review to see the latest issue of (and buy if I deam it vital)
    * Aircraft Illustrated / Air International / FlyPast / AeroPlane / AirlinerWorld / Airways / Airliners / Flight International / World Airline Fleets Monthly / Air Force Monthly / Aero (sadly, just for the pictures since I am far from being able reading german) / Aviasport / Fana de L'Aviation / Air Fan ... (those 3 being french) plus occasionally some US quartely mags only avialable at Brentano's.
    - spend more or less 2 hours on the net, daily, whichever the weather.
    - Have
    - two Cameras & associated gear, all Canon
    - my rolls are kodak K64s purshased thru Dappa, a dutch retailing business.
    - about 200 books, including six about the 707, one about exclusively the 720 / one charting the DC.8 / one over the CV880/990
and two over the Vickers VC.10.
    - more or less 150 miniatures, ranging from Long Prosper to Gemini
    - ABOUT 120,000 slides, 90 % sideviews, either taxi or action shots each representing a different entry.
    - the JP International fleet , current edition close by, + quite a few previous on shelves kept for tracking down some construction numbers.
    - about 500 safety cards, most representing some plane I flew.
    - quite a few post cards, overwhelming majority being air-to-air shots.
I am pretty sad now, because the weather here is real crap and owing to financial restrictions, I cannot correct the inbalance.
    - btw the way, any adress and web site of Courrier travel company are of great interest ...
    Regards
    Alain

        - When asking someone about their trip, Always first ask if they flew, is so: What airline and what type of plane

        - Instead of watching the road ahead, I've got my head over the steering wheel, looking up, trying to see what Airline and Type is flying over head when on approach

        - Go to ERAU

        - Have RadioShack Pro-95 Scanner

        - Rather be at an Internatoinal Airport than at Disney World

        - Hold a Private working on Instrument ticket

        - Soon to be a proud owner of a 300D (and hopefully, if money allows.. a 100-400IS )

        - For speechclass... my speech was a TRIP REPORT : MCO-CHO

        - Bought a Chronic Airlines t-shirt off Ebay

        - Member with AOPA

        - Blew all my money as a preteen getting rolls of 35mm and 110 film developed from my trip through ATL :P (Pics are worthless to jp.net but priceless to me )

        - Take my boss flying in hopes a promotion

        - Annoys the Hell out of Mikecweb tryin to get a turn on FS2004 :P

Every time I hear a plane, even around Grand forks where it is most likely to be a UND owned Piper Warrior I have to look up. (stole that one from my airport planning and admin teacher, but its still true).

I have my PPL working on instrument/commercial right now

I've come pretty close to having a few accidents at home (on an airbase) because I've been too busy watching planes.

I've stood behind taxiing 747s and a C-5 and liked it. (On the base my parents live on, there is a jogging track paralelling a taxiway. The first time it happened was with a Polar Air Cargo 747 and I just happened to be behind it when it turned onto the runway.)

Waaay too much time spent on flight sim.

I've gone to Narita in the midst of summer (which means 95+ degree weather and lots of humidity) multiple times by myself just to watch planes and take pictures all day.

I'm sure there's plenty more, but I have a few errands I have to run before going to class.

I carry a video camera, binoculars and a notepad for registrations whenver I'm at an airport. I have hours of aviation video footage that I've filmed myself and hundreds of registrations I have recorded (I only started doing that a year ago).

I spend dozens of hours each week working on my own aviation website (Airigami.net).

I book flights by the airline and/or the aircraft rather than the price.

Whenever a plane flies overhead, I tell my wife what it is. (However she is pretty good at identification, too!)

When I am flying somewhere, I turn up to the airport a LONG time before the flight and do some spotting.

Yes. I think I am an aviation geek...

Edit: (And what a lovely way to bring up my 600th post!)

I think aeroplanes with faces painted on are really cute
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

                        *Agrees with Emu*

-I've crashed some times against the door or my mom or any other thing or person just for being distracted looking at planes.

-When I am close enough to a plane a give it a little kiss, last one was yesterday January 29, the kissed was an AeroRepública MD-81 HK-4255-X.

-My internet bill is mostly based on VATSIM, FPI and JP.

-I get enery thing I can about it, posters, Safety Cards, Boarding passes, Papers, Models, Charts, an so on

-My PC is all "Aviationized", from the background, to the sounds, the the screen saver.... even the cursor!

-I feel like the Aiport is my second home instead of hellschool.

-I think the engines sound are music, not loud shit like some other people do.

-I can spend a entire day in the Airport without getting bored just looking at the planes (and the girls...).

-When I see a plane I tell the others what is it and all the history I know about it, and if applicable, what proceeding it is doing.

-I will become a Commercial Pilot, takes what it takes.

-I feel HAPPY when close to any Aviation related thing.
