  • What is the point of spam?

After checking my mail for the second time in a day and seeing that I have 104 messages in the "junk" folder, I was wondering what exactly is the point of spam. I understand that in most cases they're trying to sell a product, but have any of you actually bought anything from a spam ad? Whoever came up with the idea sucks. Since when did it become best to annoy the hell out of your potential customer to try to get them to buy your product?

    Totally agree.
You wouldn't like anybody breaking into your house for selling stuff, SPAM is the same shit.
Damn!, I don't cannot even bear those random phone calls!.

I like it fried with an egg, or as a sandwich with mustard.

I have purchased stuff from a spammer. Inkjet cartridges for my Canon S9000. The add seemed to good to be true, I clicked on it...it took me to the ebay site for the vendor...and after some careful checking through some actual photo sites, I placed an order.

Awesome cartridges for $2.99 each, $12.99 in the stores. When you make prints at 13" x 19" you can go through some ink. No problems what so ever..

But, generally I don't even bother looking....

Ever since the supposed anti-spam legislation got signed, I'm getting more than ever. I have three e-mail addresses, one was already being spammed pretty heavily, the second has started getting spammed a lot more (The spam filter on that account does not catch all of the spam, and I've nearly used up all of my address blockers for the account.), I'm about to write that address off and start using my other address, as it has the best anti-spam protection of the three e-mail accounts.

My mail account directs the suspected Spam to the 'Junk" folder, click the empty button and it's gone. Occasionally it slips into my Inbox but one click sends it away.

I use yahoo e-mail and get no spam.

But my mom is bombarded with spam like about 200 messages a day.

The spams that i find funny are the ones that come from "Africa" and ask for help moving money. And they ask for your bank account and stuff, i wonder if any idots ever fall for that crap .

The funniest one that I get several times a week (sometimes twice in a day) is for breast enlargement pills. Maybe I'll order some of those when I order my Better Than Viagra pills.

I haven't had any of the ones from Africa for awhile. I didn't know they were still sending those. I would have though they would have gotten the message. Must be some idiot who fall for that.

It might as well be an urban myth, but I've heard that some people actually did fall for the "Africa" mails... goodness, human stupidity!

Anyway, I get about five junk mails per week - a very comfortable rate!

I've never gotten those Africa- Emails, I only get them in paper . Thanks to AOL and Norton, my spam rate is only a maximum of 5 a day Haven't updated the "No Emails containing...-section" in some time, I think I should do it again. I'm getting bored of all the great deals on Xanax (What the f*** is Xanax anyway?)

I have never understood spam. Do the advertisers really think it is effective? Well I guess they do or they wouldn't be doing it. I have AOL and get about 2-5 pieces a day, mainly for different pills like the niagra ones or the enlargement ones. My mom has Yahoo and gets about 10-15 a day.

My dad used to teach CISCO networking at my high school. In his class, there was one kid who acctually questioned the Nigerian Bank Scam email. He and the guy acctually replied back and forth, and then my friend, found where this guy's IP was from. It acctually was from Nigeria! A little scary...
                              It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand.
