Well, my hopes for the NHL season were dashed when I took a look at the Chicago Blackhawks roster for the season. It didn't help when Eric Daze, Alexi Zhamnov and Jocylen Thibolt all went down with injuries. (forgive my spelling, hockey names are hard to spell). While Tuumo Ruttu has been improving as of late, (he just had a multi goal game) He isn't exactly as good as advertised.
So, watching the Hawks (the few times they manage to get on TV) has been a more painful experience than I had hoped.
At least they finally snapped there 18 game road losing streak.
Here's hoping the rookies can play in the future.

I swear the only guy that has had more concussions than him is Pat Lafontane

Guest repliedAnd you can't beat the fact that Eric "Momma's Boy" Lindros has suffered yet another concussion. There's a really insightful column in the newest issue of The Sporting News that lambasts the Rangers' "rebuilding" strategy: http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=2084908

Right now I don't think we could play our way out of a paper bag. And although I'm upset that Jagr has gone, in reality he wasn't exactly the difference between us and the Stanley Cup right now... I'm just pleased we beat Jagr's new team. OK, OK, I'm just please we beat a team.

All I gotta say is this: Boo to Jagr for leaving the Caps.
(At least we beat the Rangers 2-1 yesterday!)

I heard about the whole rumor about a team moving up to Winnipeg, hasn't a huge venue been built just for the purpose of getting another NHL team?? (i might have heard it wrong) I MAY be able to get some info on the Nashville rumor if I can get any info out of their home commentator (terry crisp is my uncle). If i talk to him or hear anything i'll let ya know.

Originally posted by SWA733CaptainI actually heard they got an offer from somebody in Winnipeg to move the team there, it's always a bad sign when you gotta get rid of the teams leader to money. Sounds to me like Mario should sell the team to somebody who can make the pay-roll and keep the team on track, always sad to see a team fall apart due to money issues. That actually almost happened to the Sabres last year.
Does anybody have any updates on the Lindros situation? I heard last night that if it is a severe concussion, we may have seen the last of him. It'll definately be a huge blow to the league to loose him, I always loved watching him play.
LINDROS VISITS SPECIALIST
Eric Lindros flew to Montreal on Thursday to be examined by Dr. Karen Johnston, a neurological specialist, after suffering a concussion in Wednesday's game vs. Washington. The injury occurred in the second period and he did not return for the third

Guest repliedThe Winnipeg rumor is this:
An NHL team from the South has contacted the city about moving there. Rumors suggest that either Nashville, Florida, or Carolina is that team. Would not be surprised if it is Nashville or Carolina, as they have had trouble maintaining a fan base in those cities. Some people have even suggested the Atlanta Thrashers as the rumored Winnipeg-bound team; the Thrashers have been mentioned alot since Time Warner's financial problems started. But with the team (along with the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena) being sold to a group (Atlanta Spirit, LLC) that intends on keeping the team in Atlanta, the chances of that happening are not that great (unless the deal falls through).
As for the Pens' future in Steeltown. Three words: new arena deal. If they don't get a deal in place within two years, the team's out of Pittsburgh. What's hurting the team is the looming threat of a lockout next season, which does not bode well for the team if the season starts late or not at all next season. Perhaps Paul Allen may finally ride in own his white steed and take the Pens to Portland (he was trying to buy them the last time they were in CH. 11).
Possible fallout of a lockout this Fall, it has been said that several teams could possibly fold if a lockout kills the 2004-2005 season, with the Pens being one of the teams that could potentially fold if the lockout were to extend into the 2005-2006 season (some pundits seem to think a lockout will wipeout at the least the 2004-2005 season).

since you want to talk about hockey.....
Let me tell you how glad I am about how terrible Anaheim is doing this year. I bet Federov really feels like a jack a$$ for doing what he did to the Red Wings.
