"Taiwan-Brazil" version of Elian Gonzalez

Just a reminder, this is another version of Elian Gonzalez's case, which happened in 1999.

The Taiwanese authorities have failed to resolve a custody battle involving an eight-year-old orphan and his relatives in Taiwan and Brazil.
Iruan Wu was due to be reunited with his grandmother in Brazil on Monday after a court ruled last year that she was his legal guardian.

But a fight broke out between the boy's Taiwanese relatives and the police when they tried to enforce the order.

Iruan Wu - better known as Wu Yi-hua in Taiwan - was born in Brazil but was brought to Taiwan by his father three years ago.

His mother had died before they left South America. His father, a fishing boat captain, died just days after bringing his son to Taiwan.
