  • A Swiss Guy With Four Languages

A Swiss guy, looking for directions, pulls up at a bus stop where two Englishmen are waiting.

"Entschuldigung, koennen Sie Deutsch sprechen?" he says.

The two Englishmen just stare at him.

"Excusez-moi, parlez vous Francais?" The two continue to stare.

    "Parlare Italiano?" No response,

    "Hablan ustedes Espanol?" Still nothing.

The Swiss guy drives off, extremely disgusted.

The first Englishman turns to the second and says, "Y'know, maybe we should learn a foreign language...."

    "Why?" says the other,

"That bloke knew four languages, and it didn't do him any good."

Nice one, Jeff, didn't know it yet.

      Hey Jeff,

      you wrote:

your joke has a major flaw:

they don't speak Spanish in Switzerland!

The first 3 languages are correct, but the last language is not Spanish it should be in "Retero Romanish"

Don't you hate it when a joke bombs. Besides, I think Peter's English is perfect

The fourth major language in Switzerland is actually English. :P

Of course, as is the case in most Western European countries, many Swiss know how to speak English, but it's not one of the four official languages of Switzerland.

Thanks, A340-500, for your compliment. English is not an official language over here, but many of us do speak it. For the record, the official languages in Switzerland are:

              - German
              - French
              - Italian
              - Reto-Romanic

That's four more than our dear Cory speaks, because what he gives as his best can hardly be described as English.

Spanish is spoken here, as we have many immigrants from this country, but not as widely as the other languages.

              Regards,
              Peter

                Is anything wrong with Dutch?

:strange things going on here: sometimes the last edited message appears, sometimes it doesn't.

                Grtz,

I was referring to the Austin Powers movie. No I guess not, don't know anything about it.
