The plate is simply the printed sheet available in hard copy to pilot's and controllers alike (the electronic age is slow in aviation). Very few carriers have EFBs (electronic flight bags) so out comes the chart (plate)!
The local atis is reminding pilots that there is speed profiling on south bound departures. It refers to this information being on the SID Plates ? I know what a SID is and I thought it just came on a CD or printed sheet. Is a 'Plate' something different ?
