  • how long from ppl to instructor?

    Hey all.

I am currently studying for a degree in aerospace engineering and enjoying it a lot.
HOwever, I plan on returning to Australia when I have finished and get a licence. I want eventually to be flying for an airline, but need the hours for my application.
I was thinking about doing some sort of teaching for maybe 2 or 3 years.
    Is this feaseable?
How did everyone else get the time needed to join an airline?

    Thanks and merry christmas

This thread may help you: http://www.jetphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=35942

The major time spent between my PPL and Instructor Rating was getting my CPL. All in all about a year!

      Cheers,
so it seems to be possible to only have to spend about 4 years getting hours before you can make a reasonable application to an airline?

That sounds about right. Doesn't stop you applying from the word go!

guess not, but an application with around 200 hours probably won't get very far
