Yes,it does look like a Sikorsky.I just can't find the one that looks like that.Judging on the photo color,I'm guessing that the picture was taken between the 1940s and the 1960s.

Sorry, neither Sikorsky nor Focke Wulf. The aircraft first flew in 1942, but it was neither American nor German. Two of the people behind it went on to work on the McDonnel XV-1 and the Fairey Rotodyne respectively after the war.
And yes, it is a helicopter.

Although the first post mentions airliners would it have been a good idea to say that in the thread title (as opposed to 'Name that Aircraft'), just as a reminder for those of us who dont regularly return to the first post of a thread thats now over 2,000 posts long?
Anyway, presume yours is a DC-9, if the thumbnail file-name is anything to go by.....
