  • I would go for a Convair or a Junkers

    But it really looks like the tin mans head form the wizard of oz
    No, neither. But the Convair guess is around the right era. Late 50's - early 60's with occasional sightings in the 70's.

                        It's role / function is unique.

                            No & yes, in that order.

                            120 were built and it was, apparently, exclusively used in a single different country to where built. Production stopped in the early 80's.
