      • Well done, Brian. It is indeed the Emigh A2 Trojan.

        Your controls, Mr. Whitelegg.

        Cheers,
Les sanglots longs des violons de l'automne blessent mon coeur d'une langueur monotone.

        • As usual we'll start with a wheel. The main gear this time....

          • Outdoor museum display or possibly a gate guardian. Single wheel MLG, so not a heavy aircraft. Probably a fighter of some sorts....

            Maybe a Lightning?

            Cheers,

              Yes.

              Yes, part of its role.

              Maybe a Lightning?
              No.

                    No and No. Not British.

And if you don't get it soon, I may have to draw my weapon, me hearties !

                      • Well it's not English, so it can't be a Blackburn Buccaneer, unless Yorkeshire doesn't count... It's also most certainly not a Consolidated PB4Y-2. Not a B-26 either... Wild, painful guess, A-7 Corsair II?

                        • Wouldn`t worry too much about the weapon Brian is threatening with brandishing. I believe this aircraft was unaffectingly known as the Gutless when in US Navy service. This applies only if I am correct, of course.

I suggest the Vought F7U Cutlass.

                          Cheers,

Drat, I focused on the pirate, not his weapon!

                            • Lots of ladies have concentrated on my weapon....but that's got nothing whatsoever to do with this thread !!

...and yes, it's a Chance Vought F7U Cutlass.

My next clue would have been that more than 50% of the production run were destroyed in accidents. It was known as the "Ensign killer" .... so called because most of the officers above the rank of Ensign were smart enough, and had enough rank to be able to steer well clear of the "Gutless" !

                              Over to you Kjell.

As per usual, we start off with the undercarriage......
