    Regards.

That's odd. Looking at the flaps, they do not look like they're fully down, so to me it looks like he's departing.

Obviously an error on the photographer's part. That plane's taking off for sure. Once I uploaded a picture of a plane going down the runway with the reversers deployed and I accidentally put "on the takeoff roll" in the remarks.

What, you've never seen a plane takeoff backwards?

If that A321 is landing, it looks pretty damn close to stalling.

Yes lots. Not as often as tail-strikes on departure but there has been a few on arrival.

Tail strikes on landing do happen, and often cause more damage that takeoff instances.

They can occur if the flare is prolonged, tha approach speed is too low, the spoiler pitch up moment is not checked or just by pulling back to hard. A PNG airline recently severly damaged a 767 doing just that.

Some guy at my flight school has several times did this in a C172.. Apparently he thinks he's flying a 747 and starts flaring 50ft above the ground

Is that vid actually a tail strike upon landing? I'd say it was not as there was no sudden cloud of smoke appeared when it appears to make contact with the hard stuff?

Thats an interesting video Sam, thanks for posting it.

Planes can strike their tail on landing, I recall an incident a few years at MAN, an Aer Turas Tristar landed a little back heavy and scratched his bum, I can't remember the reg at the moment.
