Sikorsky is relevant, however, for this NY airport...

Igor Sikorsky Memorial, where the world's first air show was held? They note the grass infield being used for ops?

Other end was used for a manufacturer known for rotary wing aircraft...

To be fair - the museum has only just very recently moved to an off-airport location, but still within a half mile of the runway end.

The current name of the museum is the same as was the name of the airshow.

The first aircraft produced by the one aerospace manufacturer here to be used by the military was adopted by the US in 1938...

North Bay/Jack Garland Airport fits the description........ but that's in Canada !

Also - used to host an annual airshow, which is unfortunately no longer held...

Sure - there are some glider operations from here, but not nearly as many as from another field about 3 miles away...

Hmmmm, turf says sailplanes or ag but it doesn't fit Elmira or Bob Hope.

It doesn't really fit but worth a mention is Plant 42, Palmdale, S California. Home of the legendary Skunk Works.
