Not really, although you can get citizenship and passports from this location, and they get invaded every so often..

So is there some kind of border dispute or ruling power dispute here ?

Depending on your point of view, some would say all flights are international, and others that they are all domestic...

"Yuck" - depending on your viewpoint, this single runway airport has only domestic or only international flights from a relatively short runway.

Nothing too complex; look for airports used in movies, eliminate the obvious (LAX, JFK, SFO etc.)

Once that was done, look at the remaining airports for characteristics - after seeing the list of common movie names that had airport scenes, Die Hard started to come to mind as the probable title reference, but even then, it was much less of a search by movie than a search for general film locations...

If one were to be nitpicky, Die Hard 2 was shot at Kincheloe AFB... Obviously, this did become Chippewa County once the air force moved out..

What was your line of thought in working it out ?

    Chippewa County International (CIU/KCIU)

Interesting for am airport with commercial traffic in the US - UNICOM only, no tower...

Your suspicions are correct......it's not Mirabel. The cryptic use of the synonyms you're so keen on should help with the movie part of the clue.

Montreal Mirabel comes to mind first, but I suspect not...

Two runways, on one of which 1.5km is not used. Seen in a movie, passing on with difficulty....twice ?
